All About Me
Hi, I am Kay. I am one of the first generation to be born and bred in England. My parents migrated from a fertile region of Northern India called Punjab. This region is renown not all for its lively “Bhangra dance”, but also it’s beautiful rich fabrics, the Golden Temple and most importantly it’s food.

silk sari”
Whilst growing up in West Yorkshire, my mother brought us up on tasty, nutritious, homemade Punjabi food. I learnt to cook many dishes from a young age, under my mother’s expert guidance. These recipes have been handed down over many generations. It is these that I would like to share with you all.
Early in my adult life I went onto train as a teacher and married in the 1980’s. With my BEd Honours degree in Primary Education, I moved to Cambridge where I taught and raised my three beautiful children. I resided there for 15 years until my husband’s job brought us to Edinburgh.
“Our diet consisted of simple and nutritious
dishes, from fresh vegetables curries (Sabji),
lentils (dal), to chicken and lamb dishes.”
As a sociable family, I have always hosted dinner parties for our friends and colleagues from around the world. “My Punjabi Kitchen” came about after many requests asking me to teach them how to make a “proper” homemade Indian dishes.
